Learning bartending is not difficult but there is many details to becoming a professional bartender. The bartending school one graduates from is a large part of the process. Graduating from a school with a reputation for supplying employers with a quality bartender helps tremendously.

In order to be a professional, a bartender must be an aware and responsible server of alcohol beverages. Included in the cost of tuition is the TIPS PROGRAM, a nationally recognized and respected program in responsible alcohol beverage service. You will receive the knowledge and confidence to recognize potential alcohol related problems and learn how to intervene to help prevent alcohol related tragedies.

You will learn:

  • To recognize the different signs of intoxication
  • Steps to take — prevention of over service
  • How to intervene in a tactful manner to prevent problems
  • How to increase your communication skills in dealing with customers
  • How to identify potential troublesome drinkers
  • How to prevent alcohol sales to minors
  • Compliance with state laws and how they affect you
  • How to properly check IDs
  • How to recognize fake IDs
The TIPS class is also available for a fee to those not enrolled in the Professional School of Bartending’s full mixology program. We can come to your business or you may come to one of our scheduled classes to become certified.

As per the State of Rhode Island, General Laws, Titles 3, Chapter 3-7, section 3-7-61 “all persons who sell or serve alcoholic beverages, anyone serving in a supervisory capacity over those who sell or serve alcoholic beverages, anyone whose job description entails the checking of identification for the purchase of alcoholic beverages and valet parking staff shall receive Alcohol Server Training” within 60 days of employment.
